چکیده

With an ever increasing population of patients with coronary artery disease complicated by chronic ischemic mitral regurgitation (IMR), the question of whether to perform mitral valve repair (MVRep) in addition to coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) is one of the most common and controversial clinical dilemmas faced by cardiac surgeons today. At present, there is no definitive randomized, prospective trial that clarifies exactly what approach should be taken.

Functional ischemic mitral regurgitation: myocardial viability as a predictor of postoperative outcome after isolated coronary artery bypass grafting.

Ischemic cardiomyopathy is the most common cause of heart failure in the United States.1 This advanced form of coronary artery disease is marked by diffuse myocardial damage, left ventricular remodeling, and often functional ischemic mitral regurgitation (MR).2 Whether moderate functional ischemic MR in patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy should be addressed with mitral valve repair at the ti...

[Functional ischemic mitral regurgitation: an open debate].

Functional ischemic mitral regurgitation is a complex disorder with a poor prognosis. Although the underlying anatomical and pathophysiological mechanisms are not entirely clear, it is known that postinfarction left ventricular remodeling is the most significant factor in the development of this mitral valve lesion. Echocardiography and magnetic resonance imaging have made significant contribut...

Mitral valve repair for ischemic mitral regurgitation: review of current techniques

INTRODUCTION Ischemic mitral regurgitation can be defined as moderate to severe mitral leak precipitated by acute myocardial infarction. Valve repair is now the procedure of choice, but some cases can pose difficult anatomy. This review will illustrate current techniques for repairing complex ischemic mitral regurgitation. METHODS Most patients with ischemic mitral regurgitation have predomin...

اثر PercutaneousCoronary Intervention Elective بر بهبودی نارسایی ایسکمیک میترال

Introdution: Ischemic mitral regurgitation (IMR) remains one of the most complex and unresolved aspects of ischemic heart disease that the impact of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) on improvement of intensity of ischemic mitral regurgitation is not well clarified. Patients with coronary artery diseases and ischemic mitral regurgitation have a worse prognosis than the patients with coro...

Mitral valve repair for ischemic mitral regurgitation.

Mitral valve repair for ischemic mitral valve regurgitation remains controversial. In moderate mitral regurgitation (MR), controversy exists whether revascularization alone will be adequate to restore native valve geometry or whether intervention on the valve (repair) should be performed concomitantly. When MR is severe, the need for valve intervention is not disputed. Rather, the controversy i...
